biography :
One of Jameson's earliest memories is being piled into the car next to his older sister, Maureen, in the middle of the night. Their sleepy pleas as to where they were going went unanswered, and they sat in a fearful silence until they found themselves at a familiar doorway, dumped at the steps of their grandfather's house.
"We'll be back soon, sweetheart. Be a good boy and be strong for your sister," his mother said, pressing a kiss to his forehead before hurrying back into the car. The grogginess wasn't fully blinked away from his eyes before they were gone.
He never saw them again. But that didn't really bother him. Jameson grew up with his grandfather, an absent-minded professor who wasn't very good at remembering that the little boy existed. Again, that didn't bother him either. After all, he was a strong boy - he had to be a strong boy, after Mom had asked so nicely.
He began going to school in this new place and immediately became popular, charismatic as he was. He was surrounded by people who called themselves his friends, though he didn't really care about any of them. They just came and went, and he knew them enough to yell out their names as they played at recess, but not a bit more than that.
There was one boy - Alec Hart - who was... different. Rather than meeting him at school, the boy came to his house afterwards, books in tow, asking if Jameson would like to do homework with him. It was seriously lame. Jameson informed him of this with a scoff. But somehow - probably thanks to the meddling of his older sister, who thought this little boy was "so adorable!" - he ended up sitting across from him, pencil in hand, trying to work through his math problems faster than him.
They started out as rivals - at least, Jameson declared that the boy was his rival. But that soon changed, loathe as he was to admit it. He switched from boasting and lording over the boy to seeking him out and playing with him at recess. Maureen would tell him later that there was a time when the two were completely inseparable, despite Jameson's rude words and apathetic nature.
And then the boy moved away. It came suddenly - his mother knocked at the door holding his hand, explaining that they'd be leaving soon, and Maureen nodded understandingly, and Jameson stared at the other boy, and Gramps was somewhere locked up in his study, and before he knew it, the other boy was gone with nothing more than a phone number.
But speaking over the phone wasn't the same. The first time he received a call, he sat silent on the line until the other boy hung up. Jameson was stubborn, perhaps, but it just wasn't the same. So he refused it - rejected it - went back to having a life filled with passive acquaintances rather than close friends.
Going into college, he knew that he wanted to become a pop artist. That's what his voice was made for, after all. And so, he began to study music at the College of Edinburgh, putting out an ad to find a roommate to live with during the year. He wasn't expecting the response that he would get. A familiar name popped up on the message he got in return.
Alec Hart.
extras :
To what extent can your characters sense ghosts (if at all)?: What are ghosts. Even if he sees ghosts... they can't be ghosts. That being said, the supernatural will probably enjoy toying with him.
